Legislative context

In France, Article 47 of Law no. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 on equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship for people with disabilities, supplemented by article 106 of the Law for a Digital Republic, requires all online public communication services to be accessible to all.

This multi-year plan, lasting a maximum of three years, sets out the entity's policy on digital accessibility.

Accessibility policy

Digital accessibility is a central concern in the development and provision of websites and applications for both the public and Pix's internal staff.

This commitment is demonstrated by the development of this multi-year digital accessibility plan, together with annual action plans. Our aim is to support compliance with the General Accessibility Improvement Framework (RGAA) and the gradual improvement of our websites and applications.

The development, monitoring and updating of this multi-year plan is the responsibility of the Accessibility Unit (contact: accessibilite@pix.fr).

The Accessibility Unit’s mission is to promote accessibility by disseminating standards and best practice and to support in-house teams through training and other initiatives. The Accessibility Unit also monitors and ensures the application of law no. 2005-102 of 11 February 2005 by carrying out regular audits, ensures that users' requests are dealt with and generally oversees the quality of the service provided to users with disabilities.

Pix also contributes to the assessment of digital skills on the principles and challenges of digital accessibility for the general public: pupils, students, teachers, professionals and the general public. Pix is developing tests to measure the general public's knowledge of digital accessibility, for example tests to evaluate users' knowledge of how to make a document accessible.

Pix digital accessibility strategy

Taking digital accessibility into account means adapting the internal organisation both globally and within our various divisions. Major actions and measures have already been taken to improve the accessibility of the various applications in the Pix ecosystem.

The elements below describe the key points on which Pix will build to improve the digital accessibility of all its websites and applications:

  • The creation of an internal Accessibility Unit, with digital accessibility coordinators in each division
  • Training and awareness-raising initiatives: These will enable staff working on the websites and applications to develop, publish and make accessible content online, throughout the period of application of this plan.
  • Use of external expertise: Pix will be increasing its use of external consultants to provide support in implementing digital accessibility. This support will include training, workshops and audits.
  • Taking digital accessibility into account in web projects: The objectives of accessibility and RGAA compliance will be included and stressed at the outset of projects, and will have a place in the roadmap of existing projects.
  • Taking digital accessibility into account in our tests: Pix is currently working on producing as many accessible tests as possible, so as to promote digital skills in all their diversity, particularly for people with disabilities. In addition, a policy is being drawn up to provide a framework for granting exemptions for skills that are essentially inaccessible to all (e.g. image editing, audio file manipulation, etc.). Finally, Pix is regularly adding to its set of tests for assessing knowledge and skills in the field of digital accessibility.
  • User tests: User tests will be organised and actions will be taken based on their feedback. These user panels will include people with disabilities.
  • Processing user feedback: Collected user feedback will be analysed and used to implement improvements as well.
